Jonathan A. Exaros, the Head Instructor and owner/operator of the Academy, began his Martial Arts training under Master Dale A. Jenkins in 1973. Since then, he has spent a lifetime studying and teaching various martial arts and is continuing his training to this day.
Under Mr. Jenkins he studied Isshinryu Karate (earning his 1st Degree Black Belt from him in 1982), Judo, Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, and some Aikido and Kobudo.
He began teaching in 1982 and eventually opened the Academy in 1991. His current rank in various arts include:
- 7th Degree Black Belt in Isshinryu Karate under Master A. J. Advincula
- 4th Degree Black Belt in Koryu Uchinadi
- 1st Degree Black Belt in A.C.E. Escrima / Arnis
- Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Garrett Goldsberry and the North Jersey Mixed Martial Arts Academy.
He graduated from Moravian College in 1989 with a BA degree.
Jonathan Exaros is the President of the Kokoro Kai, LLC (assocation) and is the Head Instructor of the East Montgomery Martial Arts Academy, LLC. He has a wife and two children who are active in the Academy.
Jonathan is also a published author. His first book, “A Teacher’s Inspiration” acts as a “text book” for the Academy. His second book, “A Village Murder,” chronicles the true story of the double murder of his ancestors. It is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Google Play, Kindle, and in many book stores. He will be working on his third work of non-fiction in 2020.
